Role Summary
The Senior Finance & Accounts Manager will serve as a key finance leader, working closely with the CFO and MD while managing the junior accounts team. The role combines financial analysis, management reporting, government subsidies and incentives, capex planning, cost accounting, statutory compliance, and team leadership. The candidate will be responsible for converting financial data into actionable management insights while strengthening financial controls and supporting business growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Finance Analysis & MIS Reporting
- Prepare and own the monthly MIS pack covering P&L, cash flow, working capital, receivables, and payables ageing.
- Build cost-centre-wise P&L for manufacturing and software business units.
- Conduct monthly actual-vs-budget variance analysis with root-cause commentary.
- Develop financial models for pricing, make-vs-buy, project cost-to-complete, and expansion decisions.
- Maintain a live financial dashboard covering key financial metrics.
- Prepare quarterly board-ready financial presentations and rolling forecasts.
2. Government Subsidies & Incentive Schemes
- Maintain a comprehensive subsidy and incentive register.
- Manage applicable industrial policy, investment subsidy, tax, MSME, PLI, and startup incentive schemes.
- Track eligibility, applications, deadlines, claims, and benefit realisation.
- Coordinate with government portals and external tax consultants where required.
- Target and track realised government benefits and present quarterly subsidy reports to the CFO.
3. Capex Planning, Control & Monitoring
- Own the annual capex budget and evaluate requests from engineering, IT, manufacturing, and facilities.
- Prepare financial models for major capex investments, including TCO, payback, NPV, IRR, and lease-vs-buy analysis.
- Maintain the capex tracker and monitor actual expenditure against approved budgets.
- Enforce approval, finance sign-off, and physical verification controls.
- Manage the asset register and depreciation schedules.
- Conduct post-implementation reviews for major capital investments.
4. Cost Accounting & Cost Control
- Develop and maintain standard costing systems for products and robotic system variants.
- Prepare monthly cost-of-production reports and variance analysis.
- Track gross margins at product, project, and SKU levels.
- Maintain and update BOM cost databases.
- Conduct quarterly cost audits to identify material, labour, vendor, and overhead inefficiencies.
- Maintain a structured cost leakage register and track corrective actions.
- Ensure accurate and timely ERP cost accounting entries and reconciliations.
5. Accounts Team Management & Development
- Manage and mentor 3–5 junior accounts executives.
- Allocate responsibilities and maintain effective work schedules.
- Develop and enforce SOPs for AP, vendor payments, AR, bank reconciliation, TDS, petty cash, and expenses.
- Conduct weekly team reviews and resolve escalations.
- Provide structured on-the-job training.
- Conduct quarterly KPI reviews and monthly book closure reviews.
6. Statutory Compliance & Audit Support
- Support statutory filings covering GST, TDS, advance tax, PF, ESI, Professional Tax, and ROC requirements.
- Prepare reconciliations and supporting documentation for statutory, internal, cost, and GST audits.
- Maintain a statutory compliance calendar with advance reminders.
- Ensure accurate recording of provisions and accruals at month and year end.
Required Qualifications
- CA (ICAI) or CMA (ICMAI) preferred.
- MBA Finance may be considered with 9+ years of experience and relevant cost-accounting exposure.
- 7–12 years of post-qualification experience.
- Minimum 3 years in cost accounting within manufacturing.
- Minimum 2 years supervising junior finance staff.
- Manufacturing / engineering sector experience is required.
- Technology / SaaS finance experience is an added advantage.
- Strong experience in financial analysis, MIS, cost accounting, subsidies, capex, compliance, and audit support.
Skills & Technical Expertise
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and financial formulas.
- Experience with Power BI or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of standard costing, BOM costing, and cost variance analysis.
- Experience with Tally Prime, SAP FICO, Oracle Financials, or equivalent ERP systems.
- Working knowledge of GST, ITC reconciliation, TDS, statutory returns, and audit processes.
- Experience managing government subsidies or incentive schemes.
- Strong capex modelling skills including NPV, IRR, and payback analysis.
- Zoho Books knowledge is preferred.
Key Performance Indicators
- Books closed within 5 working days of month end.
- MIS delivered to CFO/MD by Day 7 of the following month.
- Minimum ₹30 lakh in government benefits identified and realised annually.
- Actual capex maintained within ±5% of the approved annual budget.
- Product-level gross margin reported within ±2% of standard.
- 98%+ eligible ITC claimed in the same period.
- 100% on-time statutory filings.
- Zero repeat high-severity audit findings.
- Minimum ₹10 lakh/year in cost leakage identified and plugged.
- Fewer than 3 correction entries/month per team member on reviewed work.
